PDF Carousel or Image Sequence: Which Format to Choose Based on the Platform? (Without Messing Up)

You’ve just spent an hour perfecting your carousel. You’re ready to post it on LinkedIn—then hit a wall: PDF or image sequence?

Get this wrong, and your work goes straight to waste. LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook—each platform has its own rules. One format mistake, and your sleek carousel turns into a soulless photo grid.

Here’s how to get it right—every time.

1. LinkedIn: PDF or Bust

On LinkedIn, export as a PDF. No exceptions.

Why?

• LinkedIn doesn’t handle native carousels like Instagram. Upload 5 JPGs, and they’ll display as a clunky, cropped grid—no swipe effect.
• The fix? Use the “Add a document” button (the file icon). Upload your 10-page PDF, and LinkedIn converts it into a smooth, swipeable carousel.

Algorithm hack: Every slide swipe registers as engagement. PDFs maximize Dwell Time and boost your B2B visibility.

2. Instagram, Threads & Facebook: Image Sequence (JPG/PNG) Only

On Meta (Instagram, Threads, Facebook), PDFs are useless. Publish an image sequence instead.

Why?

• Instagram is built for images. Its native carousel is seamless—no borders between slides. Nail the alignment, and the Seamless effect is flawless.
• Facebook is a hybrid:
• On mobile: Your images form a true carousel.
• On desktop: Facebook displays them as a grid. Your first slide must be high-impact, even as a thumbnail, to drive clicks.

3. The Cross-Platform Export Headache

Posting to multiple platforms (cross-posting)? You’ll need to:

1. Export a PDF for LinkedIn.
2. Revert to export individual images for Instagram.
3. Verify your margins (Safe Zones) align with both interfaces—different overlays, different button placements.

It’s a pain.

The Solution? CarouselCraft

We built CarouselCraft so you’ll never waste time on formats again.

In the tool:

• Safe Zones are auto-calculated for LinkedIn and Instagram.
• At export, you get:
• A LinkedIn-optimized PDF.
• A ZIP folder with numbered images, ready to upload to Instagram.

No guesswork. No hassle. You create, export, publish.

Stop fighting technical constraints. Let AI generate the perfect format for every network!
