RSE Consultants: Stop the Jargon—SMEs Just Want to Avoid Fines

Published June 18, 2026 by David

I tested this LinkedIn carousel for a client selling industrial heat recovery solutions. Result: 127 views in 48 hours, 8 qualified leads, and 3 booked meetings. Not bad for a first try.

The RSE consulting market is booming, but SMEs are pushing back. The issue? We’re talking to them like MBA students when they’re running a 50-person business with a single accountant.

The LinkedIn carousel is my Swiss Army knife for turning these pain points into clients. Here’s how I do it.

1. Stop Giving Them a Law Lecture

Your average client is a business owner who left school at 16. They don’t care what the CSRD says. They want to know how much it’ll cost if they ignore it.

  • The ‘scary expert’ version: "The CSRD directive requires detailed extra-financial reporting, including Scope 3 analysis."
  • The ‘owner who wants to sleep at night’ version: "In 2026, your electricity bill will become an administrative nightmare. Here’s how to simplify it in 2 clicks."

The first text? They scroll. The second? They click your link.

2. One Slide = One Idea, Not a Wall of Text

I tested three different structures. This one works best:

  • Slide 1: The stat that shocks (e.g., "30% of your energy costs are wasted—and you don’t even know it")
  • Slide 2: The mistake everyone makes (e.g., "Think your meter’s up to date? 87% of SMEs get this wrong.")
  • Slides 3-4: The solution with a concrete analogy (e.g., "Imagine your factory as a leaky pipe. Here’s where the holes are.")
  • Slide 5: Three immediate actions (e.g., "1. Download our free checklist. 2. Check your bills. 3. Call me before Friday.")
  • Slide 6: Your final CTA (free mini-audit or demo)

Result: 34% more clicks on the link compared to my other carousels.

3. No More Tacky Greenwashing

I almost lost a client because my slides looked like a 2000s Greenpeace ad. Now, I keep it minimal:

  • Font: Montserrat (readable even on mobile)
  • Colors: Blue #1E3A8A + gray #F3F4F6
  • One image per slide: either a simple chart or a factory photo (no suns or leaves)
  • Clean institutional typography: Canva Pro with “Business Professional” templates

My client said: "Finally, someone who talks like a real businessman." Translation: they trust me.

AI to Save 10 Hours a Week

I spend 3 hours writing my carousel. Design takes 45 minutes. Before, it took 8 hours to align everything properly.
