The Comment Strategy: Why Your Carousel Will Flop If You Don’t Engage With Others

Published June 24, 2026 by David

I spent three hours refining my latest carousel. I followed the One Post = One Idea rule, polished every detail, and hit "Publish" with that small pride of a job well done. Two hours later, the result: 14 views and 1 like. My mom’s.

The problem? I treated LinkedIn like TV—a platform where you broadcast content and move on. But LinkedIn isn’t that. It’s a networking arena, not a distribution channel.

For the algorithm to finally push my carousels, I had to prove I was an active member—not just an account that posts and disappears. Here’s how I boosted my reach with a simple, effective commenting strategy.

1. The Algorithm Operates on a "Give-and-Take" System

LinkedIn wants one thing: to keep people on the platform. To do that, it prioritizes real conversations. If I post and immediately close the app (the "Post and Ghost" technique), the algorithm penalizes me. But if I spend 15 minutes reading and commenting on others’ posts before and after publishing, I signal to LinkedIn that I’m contributing to the community. In return, the algorithm rewards me.

2. A Good Comment Is a "Mini-Post"

A generic "Great post, thanks!" does nothing—for the algorithm, the author, or readers. To turn my comment into a real lever, it needs to add value. Like micro-content:

  • I add a nuance: "Your point on qualified leads is spot-on, but with my clients, the real bottleneck is often misalignment between sales and marketing teams."
  • I share a polite unpopular opinion: "I agree with your analysis, except on point 2. For my clients, 60% of generated leads aren’t ready to buy—and that’s where the real issue lies."
  • I stick to my Tone of Voice: No corporate jargon, no clichés. Just concrete insights.

Every high-quality comment is a free billboard planted in the middle of another creator’s audience. That’s how you ethically capture attention.

3. The "10 Before, 10 After" Ritual

To avoid burnout and maintain my content batching rhythm, I integrated commenting into my routine:

  • 10 minutes before publishing: I comment on posts from 3–5 top creators in my industry. I "warm up" the algorithm.
  • 10 minutes after publishing: I respond to those who comment on my carousel. Always end with a question to keep the conversation going.

Free Up Time for What Really Matters: Conversation

Why don’t most creators engage with others? Because they’re exhausted. They’ve just spent two hours struggling with a design tool to align their slides, and as soon as it’s published, they log off.

Automating design is the key. With CarouselCraft, creating visual content takes seconds. You input your text, and the tool handles margins, colors, and accessibility contrast.

The time and energy you save on design can finally be reinvested where it counts: in conversations with your market.
